Univers
"All things in the univers begin with one""

"The Bushi used the natural way'

*The way in practicing karate can be seen as the daily life of the
human being. *As soon as we see the light at birth, we start
breathing (inhale) "JU"
"The manner of drinking an spitting is either hard or soft" (inhaling
represents softness "Drinking" and exhaling charaterizes
hardness "Spitting" ) "The mind is one with heaven and earth"
When we are at the end of our life we stop breathing (exhale)."GO
At birth we are soft and flexible (JU), the dead makes us hard and
stiff "GO" "the bloodcirculating is similar to the moon and the sun"
The eternal cycle of life and death
The first (one) lesson in karate that is taught to a novice is how to
breath "kokyo undo" (just as at birth). As soon as this breathing is
under control, the secondstepfollows.

The second step ( Dachi waza)
After controlling breathing the next step is how to walk "Unsoku Ho"(
foot moves)
"Tenshin"(Foot and body moves) The basis of "Shiho" ( Four
directions).
"A persons unbalance is the same as a weight".

The third step ( Uke waza).
When balance is found between breathing and the movements (walking)
the next thing is defending (with defensive techniques) and the
feeling of exploring, smelling, seeing and hearing
"The eyes must see all sides"
*With falling down and standing up, a child learns to make a stand
against influences on the outside (good or bad)

The fourth step (Tsuki waza).
Here is learned how to defend and react by eliminating the opponent
(extreme necessity), a natural reaction to survive.
"The time to strike is when opportunity present itself"

The fifth step (Geri waza).
In this phase kicking techniques are learned, where balance, mobility
and motorial capacities are of great importance.
"The body should be able to change direction at any time"

The sixth step
When someone is well trained in these five phases, then they start
with the real karate by practicing kata Sanchin. The kata Sanchin
(three battles) is the beginning and the end. Isshinryu starts and
ends with Sanchin.

SANCHIN" The battles between mind, body and breathing. is the father
of Isshinry".
The three important pionts of SANCHIN have been described as the
stance, the breathing
method and the spirit.
"The ears must listen in all directions"
Once we find balance in all the universe we open our spirits and
minds to both the physical and
metaphysical allowing us to sence (see, hear, smell, taste, etc)
regardless of the physical andwhat the mind may perceive vs reality.
To see with the eyes is one thing yet to see with the mind and spirit
is another
"The eyes must see all sides"
